Kiryu(己龍) is a 5 member Visual-Kei band formed in September 17th 2007. The members consists of Mahiro on Vocals, Takemasa and Mitsuki on Guitar, Hiyori on Bass and Junji on drums. Visual-Kei is a subculture that emphasizes on aesthetics. It often elaborates on flamboyant costumes and hairstyles. It has been over 10 years since this band was formed. At the end of 2017, they released their latest album, “二OO七~二O一七“ (2007~2017).

Kiryu‘s style of music has always given the vibes of traditional feel together with modern rock. Their music videos features a lot of traditional aspects of Japan, ranging from mythology to even samurais and ninjas. However, a decent amount of their music video for their songs also has gore involved, so if you are senstive to such materials, it is definitely better to have some mental preparation. Over the years, they have released 6 albums and also 25 singles, some of which are really great work.

They have also collaborated with fellow bands under the same label as them, which are Royz and also Codomo Dragon for which they have actually performed the song “Ryouran Resonance” (繚乱レゾナンス). Did you also know, they have an alter ego as a band known as My Dragon which features a completely contrast side of Kiryu. The name originates from the English translation of Kiryu.

In the latest album mentioned, it will include some notable works that are worthy looking up which includes: “Kyosei” (叫声), “Etsu to Utsu” (悦と鬱), “Tsuki no Hime” (月ノ姫)and also “Amaterasu” (天照). Why not check out the short version of their single “Jou no Hana / Oborozukiyo” (情ノ華 / 朧月夜)below?
