Japanese Cultural Festival 2018

Japanese Cultural Festival 2018!
Held at Canopy K, North Spine from 5 to 6 February, our biggest and busiest event of the year, Japanese Cultural Festival (JCF), was a resounding success! A big shout out to our members for helping out, our generous sponsors for their gifts and most importantly, You! For spending your precious time with us on this fun-filled event!
Here is a recap of the wonderful memories we’ve forged over the two days!

Wa-na-ge

A mainstay in Japanese summer festivals, our wanage (ring toss) booth was a big hit with our visitors! JAC has lovingly hand-sewn all the cute rabbits that sat atop their platforms, waiting for our visitors to ring them! It was also the most competitive booth as visitors tried their best to break the high score! For the record, the top score was 30! Simply amazing!

Omikuji

Next to the wanage booth was the Omikuji, also known as the fortune telling booth! Various fortune papers were tied to animal origamis that were hand-folded by our members. What made it especially special this year was that the animals had to be fished out! Did you manage to get good fortune from the animals?

Daruma Otoshi

BOOM! If you heard loud and blunt noises coming from Canopy K over the two days, it was probably due to our Daruma Otoshi booth! The aim of the game was to make the top and bottom boxes meet each other by smacking out all the boxes in between them with a bat. But of course, you are not allowed to topple them =P

VR Experience

A 360degree view of Japan at Canopy K. Many of our visitors embarked on a journey with us to Japan, all the while remaining physically in NTU!

Shoot Shoot

Our JAC castle was besieged by Ninjas! But thankfully, many came down to help us in repelling all the invaders! Show casing, their sharpshooting talents, our visitors drew their bow and arrows to save our castle! Shoot shoot was also voted as the best booth of JCF 2018!

Make and a wish and take a photo! Our beautifully decorated tanabata-themed photobooth was filled with many wishes and fantastic memories! Some of visitors even donned a yukata for their photos!

Merchandise Booth

A new addition to our annual JCF! Various shiba inu-themed merchandises, made by some of our talented JAC members were on sale! Ranging from can badges to t-shirts, our products captured our visitors’ hearts! If you have yet to get your hand on these cute shiba inus, fear not! You can still purchase them by sending us an email!

We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s JCF as much as we did!
