About Us
We are an events-based club based in Nanyang Technological University that aims to bring together people who wish to share and learn about Japanese culture. We strive for our members to participate actively in our events.
In addition, we form bilateral ties between NTU and Japanese schools through cultural exchanges and events. Prospective Japanese exchange or full-time students are welcome too!
Our current teacher advisor is Kuriko Shinozaki sensei, a Japanese lecturer in NTU.
To introduce Japanese culture to NTU students and staff through various cultural performances, educational activities and exchange programmes.
Our Mission
To encourage as much interaction as possible between students of NTU and our Japanese counterparts. Fostering goodwill, cultivating friendships and the sharing of knowledge and ideas about Japan is what we always want to achieve.

Our Mascots
Oda Nigiri
Originally just another onigiri from a konbini in Nagoya, Oda Nigiri’s life was changed when he was accidentally left behind on the Tokaido Shinkansen and got to see the vastness of Tokyo. He decided to take his fate into his own hands, just like his idol and fellow Nagoya native, samurai lord Oda Nobunaga. Now, this samurai rice ball seeks to spread knowledge of Japanese history with the NTU JAC.
Yumi
Yumi learned about the NTU JAC from her relative, whose likeness was used for the JAC logo. She decided that she would contribute to JAC by sharing interesting events and other fun facts with our members. Like many other JAC members, Yumi is into Japanese pop culture, but is keen to share with everyone other aspects of Japan beyond pop culture.
Mio-hime
During springtime in Osaka, Mio-hime was just a simple sakura mochi put on display in a quaint wagashi shop. She longed to get out and explore the world outside her tiny box, and her wish was granted when Oda Nigiri found her and became her friend. Finally taking her first steps outside the shop, the sight of cherry blossom in full bloom gave her a warm feeling that she's never felt before. Following Oda Nigiri, she has now joined NTU JAC in hopes to share her passion for the beauty of Japan.
