Study, Work, Travel - 2014
Hello everyone!
On 15 Oct, JAC organized its annual Study, Work and Travel (SWT) Japan Talk. It was certainly an eye-opener as all of us got to discover the many opportunities awaiting for us to visit Japan!
Speaker: Ruixue
Starting the talk was Ruixue, who went to Akita International University for a spring exchange this year to speak about studying there. She shared her experiences in the university and Japan itself, even providing details for preparation needed for a smooth and enjoyable exchange to Japan. The choruses of “ooos” and “aahhs” throughout her presentation showed how enjoyable her stay was and evidently, many of us were envious of the opportunity she had!
Speaker: Mr Makishi Shun
Up next, Mr Makishi Shun, an officer from the Japan Embassy in Singapore, gave details on a scholarship by the Japan Government offered to Singaporeans wishing to further their studies in Japan. With his clear explanations regarding the criteria and documents required, I’m sure all of us have a better idea of getting a scholarship to Japan!
Speakers: JAC Recruitment Group
The JAC recruitment group came down to talk about working opportunities in Japan. Listening to someone who personally worked in Japan, it is much easier to understand the ups and downs of working in a foreign country. The JAC recruitment group also shared the various job opportunities it provides for fresh graduates in Singapore as well. With such friendly speakers, we were able to gain insights into the working world!
First in the cast of speakers, we have Ms Wong Xin Ling sharing with us on the proper interview attire and ways of preparing a good resume.
Next up, Mr Andrew Woon shared with us his experiences in studying and working in Japan, as well as how he felt about the culture.
Finally, Ms Hiroko Ashida rounded off the JAC recruitment talk segment by presenting to us the cycle of Japanese companies recruitment, from the start of selection process to the end of interviews.
Speaker: Foo Sing
Ending the night with a bang was Foo Sing, who went to Japan along with 10 JAC members last summer. He talked about the memorable places they visited, the myriad of delectable food they tried, as well as many interesting happenings which occurred during the trip. Peppered with anecdotes and jokes, he made his talk very engaging and the audience went into fits of laughter.
Now that we know more about the various opportunities available to us to study, work and travel, I’m sure it has fueled your interest to visit Japan. So, who’s up to create your very own experience in Japan?
