Flumpool Open Press Conference

Flumpool is a four-man Japanese pop band that originated in the Osaka prefecture and was formed in January 2007. It is no small feat that their albums have constantly peaked in the top 10 positions of the Oricon weekly singles chart. This will be their second time coming to and performing in Singapore since their last appearance back in August 2014.

This press conference was held on the 22nd of July 2016 at Marina Square. NTU JAC would like to extend our thanks to WakuWaku Japan and Starhub for organizing this event and Crooner for inviting our media team to cover the event.

Here is a look at the interview that JAC’s media covered during the event:

Emcee: What impressions of Singapore did you gain from your last trip and what are you looking forward to during your current stay?

Ryuta: I would like to eat chilli crab again!

Kazuki: I would really like to visit the casino! (Jokingly). I would also like to visit Universal Studios Singapore again!

“Ryuta cuts in”

Ryuta: Yes, I heard there is a new Transformers ride! I would love to ride it!

Emcee: Last year your group performed a live, what was the name of the tour?

Ryuta: We held a tour named “FOR ROOTS”!

Emcee: That’s right! The “FOR ROOTS” live screening will be broadcasted on WakuWaku Japan on 27 August at 2pm.

Emcee: What songs from your new album “EGG”, do you recommend?

Seiji: I’d recommend World Beats! We are experimenting with EDM, a new genre. Fans can enjoy this song while utilizing a towel to have more fun!

Kazuki: For me, I’d recommend DILEMMA. There are many ways to enjoy the song. Please listen to it more to gain new insights to the song!

Emcee: Taking into account that this is the final stop of your tour, describe to us some of the experiences and episodes that you encountered during this tour.

Ryuta: During our tour we ate a lot of food. As an initiative to stay fit during the tour, I often went jogging in the neighborhood during my free time. During one of my jogs, 2 female fans spotted me and approached me to ask for an autograph. However, not wanting to disrupt my concentration, I thanked them for their support but declined their request for autographs. Eventually, I jogged faster in order to lose them and they proceeded to chase after me. It felt like I was a robber running away from 2 girls!

Emcee: What expectations do you have for tomorrow’s concert?

Ryuta: Compared to 2 years ago, you can expect us to have powered up our performance! This is an album we have come up with after three and a half years and have put in a lot of effort into this album. Since this is our last stop, we intend to give the best performance we have! Please give us your support!

Emcee: What else can we expect from flumpool in the remainder of 2016?

Ryuta: We have a lot of events planned for 2016. Though they may not be in Singapore, I hope that the fans in Southeast Asia can support us at our live events!

Emcee: What do you want to do after the tour?

Genki: Casino! (Jokingly)

Audience: Gardens by the Bay!

Ryuta: We will check that out!

Media Questions

J Network: What collaborations with other artists can we expect in the future?

Ryuta: Recently we have listened to a lot of Singaporean bands and would like to collaborate with The Sam Willows!

Media: What song would you recommend to new listeners of Jpop?

Ryuta: They can listen to the theme song for the anime Ajin, 「夜は眠れるかい?」 (Yoru wa Nemurerukai). It is really good!

Media: What drama or anime would you recommend to us?

Ryuta: Ajin!!! Captain Earth is good as well! We sang the song 「ビリーバーズ・ハイ」 (Believer’s High), the opening song for Captain Earth!

Emcee: Any messages for your fans and comments for tomorrow’s performance?

Ryuta: The performance tomorrow will be special! We have put in a lot of effort into practicing for it! Please come for it!

Genki: We usually perform in larger venues in Japan, but given the smaller and compact location tomorrow, which is similar to a live house, you can expect some intimacy between us!

Seiji: You can expect to be up and personal with us on the stage! Though we are nervous, we have good vibes regarding tomorrow! We look forward to seeing you!

Ryuta: As a lot of fans cannot travel to Japan and while we have not come to Singapore for 2 years, we expect 2 years’ worth of emotions to explode on both sides! We hope you enjoy our performance!
