JAC Christmas Party 2016

JAC held it’s annual Christmas Party on the 23rd this year and as usual, it was a merry affair. Beginning with a dinner of fried rice, fish and curry, the night was off to a warm start despite some of the members coming in drenched due to the rain  Many members came dressed red and/or white, following this year’s theme of “kouhaku”  (kinda like a candy cane HAHAHA)

The Committee kicked off the games with bingo to break the ice and for both seniors and juniors alike to get to know each other better. It was a flurry of activity as members ran around the room collecting signatures in order to stand a chance to win Keisuke vouchers. The requirements, such as “Someone who got pushed by a station conductor during rush hour in Japan” were interesting and very specific. After which, the members were split into groups to play “our hearts are connected”, a game which required group members to attempt to illustrate a given theme in a minute individually, and to have a running relation between group members’ drawings. It was fun to see groups try to match their drawings (the rules did not allow members to look at each other as they drew). I had a good laugh attempting to draw – and the results ranged from cheesy to ridiculous.

As per JAC tradition, the following game was, of course, a food decoration contest, following the theme of Christmas ~ The results that ensued were hilarious, after much effort from the different teams to create “unique” designs. The pictures speak for themselves.

However, the highlight of the Christmas event was, as always, the gift exchange, prompting lots of laughter as strange presents were revealed. Unlike last year, this year’s gifts were selected via a numbered origami stocking which were pasted under various christmas ornaments at the start of the event, and randomly selected by each member. Perhaps the most memorable presents would be a sack of rice, wrapped in a layer of parking coupons and placed inside a FedEx box, as well as a grabbing stick, that saw members chasing and disturbing one another with.

Overall, it was an enjoyable evening spent with friends and schoolmates Props to the Main Committee members who put in time and effort to organize and host this event Hoping everyone had a Merry Christmas and here’s wishing everyone an amazing year ahead (。•̀ᴗ-)و ̑̑✧
