Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner! As with Singapore, Halloween festivities in Japan differ from that of Western Tradition.

In the case of Japan, the focus is largely on the costumes, and the marketing of Halloween themed items. According to an article on Kotaku, the Japanese interest in Halloween grew largely thanks to theme park marketing. Like the annual Singaporean event at Universal Studios Singapore, Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Studios Japan also has their own version.

It is interesting to note how the festival has developed, and even more so when adopted into Asian cultures. Without the traditions of trick-or-treating, and games like bobbing for apples, which have cultural roots, the emergence of Halloween festivities is largely created through appeal.
