2021 Good Job Creations (GJC) visit

On 17th December 2021, members from the NTU JAC Business Management committee visited Good Job Creations (GJC). As part of the visit, we had the privilege of touring the GJC offices and interviewing key personnel such as recruitment consultants and members of the GJC management. Their experience in the recruitment industry proved valuable to us as we sought to learn more about Japanese companies and the hiring process for their branches in Singapore.

Currently located in Novena, the GJC office serves many different functions and employees with many different backgrounds. Shown here is GJC’s main meeting room, where formal job signings and company -wide meetings are conducted. You can also see GJC’s company values written on the wall in the background, such as respect and integrity.

This room is the collaboration room, which is also where interviews are held. The slidable whiteboards in the room help facilitate group discussions and open to reveal a screen behind it. Owing to the transparent glass panels it has for walls, this room is also nicknamed “the fishbowl” by GJC staff.

The sofa section over here provides a more casual, relaxed environment for staff meetings and hosting guests. It is accompanied by a picturesque city backdrop for corporate photographs.

The GJC office pantry contains light refreshments for the staff and is considered indispensable by many, facilitating more casual team meetings and work discussions. It used to be a server room but was renovated to open the space up and encourage more collaborative energy.

Finally, the main office spaces are shown here in these photos. Sitting depends on the General Manager and changes every 3 to 4 months, with a good mix of personnel from different teams, such as the sales team which handles clients (companies) and the consultants team which handles both Japanese-speaking and non-Japanese speaking candidates. As you can see, it is an open concept, similar to the pantry as a lot of inter-collaboration is required.

After the office tour, we conducted interviews with two recruitment consultants, the Managing Director, and the General Manager. We gained many insights into the vast number of work opportunities in Japanese companies in Singapore, which you can read about in this article, “Working in local branches of Japanese firms: a closer look”.
